Luke Dashjr, a long time Bitcoin core developer recently presented a proposed “bug fix”, for the Bitcoin code. However this proposal did not receive support to move forward. The main idea behind the proposal was to eliminate Ordinals and Inscriptions on the blockchain. The Bitcoin developer community is currently divided on this issue and without a consensus from the majority it would be challenging to make any modifications to the nature of the blockchain.
Ava Chow, another core developer, described Dashjrs proposal as controversial. Mentioned that there is an ongoing debate that has reached a stalemate. At this point, in time it seems unlikely that the proposal will reach a conclusion that satisfies everyone involved.
